(GOLDEN SECTION)
is a rectangular shape that is appealing to the eye.
The Cincinnatiis Enquirer will be using this feature soon.
An article appeared in the paper on Sunday,July 22, 2012
announcing a change in the size of the paper:
Enquirer's new format is innovation with purpose
The most obvious change to the print edition of The Enquirer will be the new page size: 10½ inches wide by 14 and 2/3 inches tall. The Enquirer will be one of the first papers in the country
to change to this size, and people have told us they love it.
The new print edition fits easily on the breakfast table along with readers’ cereal bowls and coffee cups, and can be tucked
in their briefcase or bag and carried with them if they
don’t finish reading. The pages will be organized with fewer
jumps so you don’t have to turn pages ...
When you divide 14 and 2/3 by 10 and 1/2 you :
get
closer to the GOLDEN RATIO?
The original paper was 23 inches by 10.25 inches
How about a deck of cards?
Are the dimensions close to the GOLDEN RATIO?
The cards that I measured were 2.25 inches by 3 and 7/16
